YOLO COUNTY will have Guest Speaker Corey Waller MD, provide an overview of the neuroscience of addiction that explains the brain-based nature of substance use disorders, evidence-based treatment for opioid use disorder, and how to overcome stigma and other barriers to treatment implementation.
 
R. Corey Waller MD, MS, FACEP, DFASAM is a nationally recognized addiction expert and an actively practicing addiction, pain, and emergency medicine specialist. Dr. Waller is a principal at Health Management Associates leading system of care transformation for opioid use disorder/substance use disorders in California, and in other states and communities throughout the country.  Dr. Waller is also Editor in Chief of the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM)* Criteria.

In Yolo County, organizations across various sectors have been implementing progressive programming to assist with opioid addiction and substance use disorders.  This coalition will bring together various stakeholders in order to share best practices, address challenges together and when appropriate advocate for policy and regulatory changes. We invite all vested community partners to join this opioid coalition by contacting us today.
